TOS Review Monki See

Let me just say that I'm not sure if I want my baby to read.  I don't even think I want the baby to walk let alone read things over my shoulders!  I want them to stay babies for as long as possible.  I want to read books to them for as long as they will let me.   I want to grow them into adults to be able to take care of themselves; just not when they are under three years old.

But that's just me.  I am not a fan of the programs that teach babies to read.  At all.  I know several moms that have used them and love them but it's just not for me.

With that being said, I have this review to write!  lol  Guess what it's for?  A program that teaches your baby to read! So, without any further blabbering here it is.

Monki See is a program designed to teach your 3month old up to 3 year old to read.

Here is a little about Monki See from the website:

MonkiSee is a fun and entertaining collection of baby DVD's that expose babies to upbeat music, original poetry, lovable puppets and real world images.  The MonkiSee collection teaches your baby to identify their body parts, colors, shapes and more, all while learning to read.  The Monki See series is rich in language and has been proven to increase your baby's vocabulary.
The MonkiSee Baby DVD series is a fun way for your baby to learn necessary preschool skills such as color and shape recognition.  The concepts are introduced in a fun and interactive way.  Your baby will love to "monkey around" with the lovable Howie and Skip.
Each Monki See baby dvd volume introduces new concepts to your baby in a playful and entertaining way.  The MonkiSee collection is truly learning made fun.  You will be amazed at how much your baby learns in this enjoyable manner.
Guaranteed to be your baby's favorite series - the MonkiSee line of baby DVD's are products babies love and parents can feel good about.

What we received as part of The TOS Crew was the Baby's First Words DVD and the Know Your Monkey book.   The DVD is cute and filled with the monkeys Howie and Skip.  It is recommended to watch the DVD everyday for many weeks in order to get the most benefit from the program.  We weren't able to do that due to time constraints so we didn't see the results that are talked about on the website.  The book is a short book that is filled with great pictures and the words like Head and Up.  There are more complex words that seem a little too hard for babies to read.  (in my opinion)  There is also a word list in the front of the book that corresponds with the flashcards they recommend.

I can see us using this book to read the words and associate them with pictures until they learn to read well on their own.  We will keep trying to use the DVD even though Bug didn't seem to care for it very much.  I think she would get used to watching it and grow to really like it.  It is bright, fun, and catchy.  My older girls were singing a song from it for most of the day!

I'm not sure that I would buy this program.  Actually, I wouldn't.  But I wouldn't buy any product like this.  It's just not my style.  However, I know several moms that would love this and use it to its fullest.  I wouldn't not recommend this program; I would just recommend really researching before you buy it.

If you want to know more about this cute program, head over to their website and check out their FAQ page.  You can also check out their Resources page to read about the resources they site for their research.  You can also head on over to this page to check out their prices.   The Baby's First Words DVD is $19.95 and the Know Your Monkey Book is $9.95.

The website also sells the Flash Cards to supplement the program.  There are five different sets that are $16.95 each.  You can also get the Baby Reading Kit that includes everything in their program for $139.95.  Head on over to their store to see what other products they offer.

If you want to see what other Crew Members thought of this program, head on over to The Crew Blog and check them out.

**I received the DVD and Book from Monki See through The TOS Crew in exchange for my honest review.
