Plus, we will have any classes through our homeschool group starting in September as well as the theater group I will be co-directing for and soccer season commencing.  It is going to be a full year with one in High School and one in Pre-Pre-K.  But I am excited about it.

Plans for 2011-2012

Gearing up for the new school year is always so exciting. The new school supplies, the new books, the hopes and dreams of great things to come.

Ahhh, can you smell the new pencils?

Today, I had to go by the school supply aisles in our Wal-Mart for some notebooks but when I got there two of my girls physically grabbed hold of me and stopped me from going down the aisle. I couldn't believe it. They were physically holding me back and they kept saying things like, "No, Mom. Don't do it." "Dad will be so mad at you if you go down this aisle."

Yeah, I guess I am that bad. lol I had to promise them that I had a purpose for going down the aisle and that we were only going to buy four notebooks and nothing else.

That was the plan anyway! I ended up getting a case of notebooks...but nothing else! Promise. ;-)

Anyway, as I am thinking about the new school year I am planning out what we will use for subjects. I believe that I have everything we need but I won't know for sure until I sit down to plan it all out. lol

That is all I can remember for the moment. I think I have covered all the subjects but my mind is spinning at the moment. I am looking at those stacks of brand new books and I can't wait to get started. lol

But...we have to wait until the first week of August. ;-)

Plans for 2010-2011

First of all, I about had a heart attack just typing out the years!  lol  I can't believe that we have been homeschooling for seven years.  Woohoo!

Okay, here are our choices for this coming year:

Tapestry of Grace for everyone.  We LOVE Tapestry!  Seriously.  It has changed our homeschooling experience for the better.  This curricula includes Bible, Geography, History, Literature, Church History, Fine Arts, Worldview, Government, and Philosophy.  Check it out!

Math U See is another one that we also love.  It has helped us not have screaming fits when it's time to do Math.  And I do mean screaming fits for both the student and the teacher!

Spelling Power has saved my sanity.  It is easy to use -the way we use it anyway!  One book for all my students is a winner in my book any day.

Latina Christian 1  We went through Prima Latina last year with the oldest three and we had a ball learning and using Latin.  The kids would pray using the Latin words they had learned.  It is too much fun!  We tried other foreign languages and couldn't get through a few weeks with them; they kept asking for more of this one.

Bob Jones Writing and Grammar  I know, I know, this doesn't fit in with the 'classical approach' that you see going on.  But, I love the workbook approach for grammar.  Bob Jones does a good job of switching between learning grammar and using it in the writing process.  We don't do everything they suggest because we use another writing program, but the girls really like these workbooks.

Apologia sciences  I can not say enough about these books.  We have used Zoology 1, Botany, and are going into Astronomy this year.  LOVE THEM!  My oldest dd will be doing General Science this year and I am excited for her, it looks pretty cool.

Is that everything?  hmmm I can't think of anything else but if I do, I will add it later.  :)
