So the week without the kids didn't go exactly as I had planned. We ended up having a funeral on Wednesday that required driving out to get our oldest and then taking her back. We also had to pull a chunk of wood out of our 10yos foot. Not fun.
Wednesday was pretty much a bust. Not much was done and I didn't like it. I didn't even go to Bible Study. I just couldn't do one more thing, ya know? Something had to give or I was going to lose it. I may still lose it because I am so behind on things. I need time to myself with no distractions to really focus and get stuff done. Not sure if that will happen though. When you have five kids there isn't much down time.
Thursday was pretty good with getting most of the painting done in the hallway. I also got to go on a date with my man thanks to the babysitting prowess of our good friend. We say Batman: The Dark Knight Rises. It was great. I cried twice! Yes, I did.
Friday I finished up the front hall, found some things for our upcoming school year, had a panic attack, did the dishes, and took a nap. Albeit a small one though. It was fantastic!!
Friday night we went get the girls and had pizza with the family. It was noisy and chaotic and wonderful! We made it home to see part of the Opening Ceremonies of the Olympics. We recorded it, of course, and stayed up late to finish it.
However, we all thought the ceremonies were fairly boring. There were some highlights and really liked some of it but on the whole we didn't like it. I was further disappointed to find out that we wouldn't be able to watch very much of the Olympics due to not having a high enough cable package. I was almost in tears Saturday. I love the Olympics and all life is suspended while they are on. I am serious when I say that we are glued to the t.v. during the Olympics.
I am a little obsessed, I admit it. But once every two years isn't so bad. Is it? Please tell me I'm not the only one that is crazy about the Olympics. Anyone?
Okay, onto another topic. Saturday night some close friends came over for dinner and homeschool talk. This coming year we are going to be having three extra kids two days a week to help them out with homeschooling. We decided all the curriculum for the year thanks to some of othe reviews I have been able to do over the years! Our plan is set and now all I have to do is print out our Tapestry books, IEW material, and find books at the library. Oh yeah, I am also choreographing another theater camp that starts next week.
Good times!
Sunday found us at church worshipping a wonderful God. We had a great afternoon celebrating our new 13yo and watching the Olympics! Naps and good food followed, of course. Then a night of babysitting for our oldest. Yup, it was a pretty good weekend. ;-)
