A Birthday Celebration

We went to celebrate my dh's Dads birthday.

Here are a few pics from the day.

We gave him a portable grill. He was thrilled!

More Surprises in the Yard

I am not sure that I have had so many flowers in a yard before! It is wonderful to go out and find new blossoms!

These are in front and we were told that they had not bloomed in a few years!

Oh, wait, he is not a blossom from the yard! The youngest just decided to 'pretty him up'!!
Isn't he a good Daddy for letting her do this?

That's my man!

A Lesson in Heartbreak

On Friday morning we went to Wal-Mart (our favorite place!) because we were out of toilet paper! So, in we all marched in our nighties!!

Anyway...on our way home going through the parking lot, my 8yodd yelled out that we had to go back. She saw a kitten and we just *had* to back and rescue it. UGH

I went back. We spent the next 30 minutes chasing this little cat through the pallets. It had to be a hilarious sight, 4 kids crawling around on the ground meowing and me on crutches trying to remind them that we were NOT going to keep it if we could catch it.

After the 20 minute mark came and went, I started pleading with God to let us catch it so we could just leave. My mistake.

We caught it. Actually, it finally came out of the pallets and laid down in front of the 8yo and allowed her to pick it up.

They were attached and were discussing names on the way home.

It was sooo small and I was worried that it might die on us. Prayers were offered up on its behalf.

It had fleas, mites, and eye goo. Still it was pretty cute.

We found a box and made a nice little bed for it. It was so malnourished that it couldn't even meow. It was really sad.

But, not sad enough for me to keep it!

We ended up taking it to Humane Society after some of our friends declined taking it.

Prayers are still being offered up for it and some pleading and bargaining are still happening to try and adopt it!

She was so tired, that she slept a lot of the time.

She had beautiful lime green eyes.

They were so proud of themselves for saving this kitten!

The kitten was so gentle with our youngest. She just laid there and let her hold her.

The animal lover was trying to guard her heart.

However, this is the child that was attached the most. She truly loved that kitten. The kitten would snuggle her and wrapped her paws around my dds arm. She even tried to crawl up and snuggle her neck! When we took the kitten to the Humane Society, my dd was crying so hard. By the time we got home she collapsed into my arms and said, "Mommy, I know that you said not to get attached; but, I loved her so much."

That really broke my heart. At that moment, I thought that maybe we had made a mistake.

But, then I came back to reality and decided that it was still for the best.

This too shall pass.

Still More...

The girls were so good this weekend to help take Naomi back and forth the only bathroom she would use! It happened a lot, believe me!

My sis and my Dad. Isn't that a good picture? :)

I love our flag! It is so beautiful.

I am not sure why, but I had a thing for feet that weekend!

They were just so cute. :)

And this was just after the first day! OUCH

Doesn't her sunburn look bad? HEEHEE She wanted to be just like Aunt Bobbie!

More of the Trip!

Here are more pics of our trip.

This is Robin, my sister! We always have fun on our road trips. We have taken several over the years and they are always an adventure.

The van was soooo packed that the girls didn't have any room to move. Literally! The stuff was packed up on all sides, the trunk was full, and the seat between the oldest two was full. It was crazy!

My brother road his Harley, and we nearly had several heart attacks just watching the wind whipping him around. The scenery is of the dam that we had to cross to get to the bluffs. I don't like crossing over big waterways. I started getting tunnel vision and my hands were squeezing the steering wheel so tight that they hurt when I took them off!

Here is the lake. It was beautiful.

I think this is actually a lake we passed earlier on, but I am not sure. We took so many pictures!

Here is our tent. It housed my sister, me, and my four girls! The next tent over was my brothers and the next one over from that was for the Harley.

This is the inside of the tent. We were CRAMMED in there!

The other side of the tent!

My uncle lost his legs in Vietnam. He got this handy new motorized chair and he was zipping everywhere. However, he got stuck in the rocks that were surrounding the basketball court. I just had to get pictures documenting it!

The sunset the first night. It was just absolutely gorgeous.

Believe it or not, there are still many more pictures!

An Interesting Weekend

Last week I decided to go to a family reunion without my dh. Why, I am not sure. I know, I went because my wonderful sister was going and said that she would help me with the kids.

She is a wonderful sister.

Anyway, I went to work on Thursday and then we left to head to my mom's for the night. As we started out, the thunderstorms rolled in. I went anyway. I am determined once plans have been made. :)

These pictures are what we saw all the way to my mom's. Yes, I was taking pictures while I was driving. SHHH, don't tell!

This was looking to our left. Just south of the highway we were on.

This was to the north of the highway we were on.

This was in front of us. We had a semi-clear path to follow of relatively calm weather! Praise God.

After the storm passed, we could see that another one was rolling in behind us and headed for our city.

It was just too beautiful to pass on the pictures. The girls said that the clouds looked like mountains and when do get to see mountains in the very center of the US flat lands?!
I have MANY more pictures of the weekend! I think I took over two hundred. HEEHEE Mostly scenery! I will be posting these periodically throughout the day.
