Runes Book Review

I recently was given a copy of Runes by Ednah Walters to review.  I was honestly not very interested because the premise sounded just like another book I have read and loved.  But, I thought I would give it a chance anyway.

I'm glad I did.  After the first couple of chapters Runes sets itself apart from the other book and stands on its own.

Description from the publisher:

Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.
Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.  Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about him. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only is she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

The genre is listed as: Paranormal romance, fantasy, young adult, teens, mythology, supernatural, new adult.

As I said I was unsure of reading this book at first but I was thrilled by the end of it.  Runes is a wonderful combination of paranormal activity/supernatural, fantasy, mythology, and young adult fiction.  I love how the author used Norse mythology in the story instead of the commonly used Roman.  Of course, I love a good story with any mythology in it!

I liked the development of the characters and storyline and can not wait for the next book to come out!  If you like books in this genre you might want to check this one out.  btw my 15yo loved this book.

**I received a copy of this book for review purposes.  The opinions are my own and I was not reimbursed for this review.
