I forgot to post my challenge this month for the Decorating through the Year challenge!!

Since I have been sick for most of the month, I decided to make the whole house my project!

Actually, I decided to hang pictures throughout the house. I called up my sis and we hung almost all of them!

We are soo good! ;)

This is hanging in our front room

This is hanging in our kitchen eating area.

These are things that people made for us. The one on the left is part of our wedding announcement. The one on the right is a cross-stitch that my step-mom made for us.

I love this picture. It has all of the wonderful names of Jesus on it.

This is just as you come down the stairs.

This is one of those things that I bought to make the other house look better while we were selling it!! It was a clearance item and I just fell in love with it!

Daddy's Got a Brand New Bag

A while back I made chicken quesadillas. My family really loves them. I make a bunch of them and we usually don't have very many left. Well, after the last time I made them, there were only 5 left. Two spicy chicken and two plain chicken.

When they were packaged up for dh to take them to work, they got mixed up and he ended up taking all of the plain chicken ones. That sent an uproar through the house!!

There was no end to the drama from dh taking the wrong quesadillas!!!

So, fast forward to this last week. I made them again. I made 20 in all!!! I wanted to be sure that there were enough for left-overs!

There were!

The girls put supper away that night with talks of making sure that their daddy did not take their stuff this time.

I did not think anything of it until, dh called me from work saying that he was keeping the zip-loc that they were in! He was laughing. That is a good thing, right? I mean, either he is laughing because it is funny or he is laughing because he is dreaming up the perfect punishment! (don't get all crazy on me here! you parents know that sometimes when you find the perfect way to discipline a given child in a given situation, it can make you a little giddy!! LOL)

He was laughing because of what was written on the zip-lock!

I went and looked at the zip-lock that was left in the fridge- well, you just have to see them!

At least they know how to spell, right? HEHEHEH!

A Better Shot!

I decided that after the last picture I posted, I better put a better one of me on here!

This is from our last family picture taking endeavor.

I'm Back!

I cannot believe that I have not posted since the 20th! To tell the truth, I did not even think about it before Sunday evening!

To catch you up on things, we have had the stomach bug, influenza, and bronchitis. That was all me! Yup, me. I had the stomach bug and then three days later I came down with bronchitis; then, two days after that I got influenza.

Needless to say, we did not get much school done last week. I spent most of every day sleeping. I am feeling better now. I am not completely well, but it is soo much better than last week. :}

Our oldest dd was sick last week with influenza. She recovered much more quickly than I did.

Our third dd lost her second tooth last week!

Each day, the girls would do silly things to try and cheer me up! I thought you might enjoy them as well.

This first picture is what I saw the most of last week. It is my foot. When I am sick, I always have one foot sticking out of the blankets so that I can breathe!!

Silly poses!

Dancing

Deep in thought! ;)

The missing
tooth!

I've been tagged...

Donna over at UMMMM...has tagged me!

Here are the rules: Pick up the nearest book of 123 pages or more. Open the book to page 123 and find sentence number 5. Post the next 3 sentences. Tag 5 people.

From the book The Rising Antichrist is Born by Tim LaHaye & Jerry B. Jenkins:

He read Romans 3:10-12:
"There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is non who understands;
There is none who seeks after god.
They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one."

What is Wrong With These People?

I forgot to take pictures when we went to the Baskin Robins ice cream store last night. :( So, I found some old ones that are silly!

We got snacks at Quick Trip! Can you tell she is excited?

She is plotting to take everyone else's snacks!

Okay, this one is not silly, I just liked it!

She really wants more snacks!

Isn't he handsome? :)

I am not sure who this is!

What a Mug!!

I LOVE MUGS!!! Actually, I love just about any dishes, really!

So, I decided to take a few pictures of my favorite ones.

I love the look of my coffee in this clear one!

This is one of my absolute favorites! It is soo big!

These are so delicate that they make me feel dainty just using them!

These are a set that were given to me for Christmas. Did I mention that I love teapots, too?

This is one that I received after going to Royal Family Kids Camp for seven years. I use it more often than the others. :)

Here is one that my wonderful sister gave me. 'La, La, La' is something that I say at camp when I just can't handle the emotional strain anymore. It is a wonderfully tall mug that holds more coffee than I need in a day!

American History

In school right now we are studying early American History. We decided that we wanted to learn about the first settlers and the Pilgrims/Separatists.

So...

We started with Jamestown and then went back to learn a little about Roanoke. The girls were fascinated with 'The Lost Colony'. They were very upset that the people were never found! We made maps of the area and looked to find Chesapeake Bay to mark where Roanoke was. Then we started Jamestown again.

We talked about John Smith and what was true and what was not (Disney version!) We found out that Pocohantas was only about 11 years old when she met John Smith and she only lived to be about 20 or 21.

Another thing that was interesting was that Pocohantas' father was not named Powhatan. His name was Wahunsunacock!! The name Powhatan was the name of the group of tribes from the area. Never knew that, either!

We learned about all the people that died in Jamestown and the diseases that killed them. I think the 'favorite' of our bunch was dysentery! The girls named that 'the pooping disease'!! Gross, but they remember it and why the settlers got it. :)

THEN, we did something FUN! WOOHO! We mad a 3-D model of Jamestown. It was quite fun and they look pretty cool! It is not a full replica; but, just enough to give us the idea of what it looked like. I don't think they will ever forget these lessons - I hope!

Here are some pictures of 'our' Jamestown's.

We also used these for Map Skills! I love it when things have multiple uses!!

Next we are onto the Separatists in England to follow them to Holland and eventually to the New World.

P.S. If you are wondering where we got this project from, we found the book on the Scholastic website. The book is entitled, Colonial America Easy Make and Learn Projects.

Discovery

One of the Bible Study methods I am learning is to say the verse multiple times emphasizing a different word each time. It sounds simple; but it really brings the verse to a different level and helps you understand each word inside the verse.

A few weeks ago I took the verse Psalm 37:4 and did this to it. After saying it 15 times, I then wrote out each word and wrote down what they meant to me.

It looked something like this:

Delight - take joy in
Yourself - my whole being
In - immersed in
The -only one
Lord - only in Him
And - it requires action to get blessing
He - God, no one else
Will - present, ongoing, active
Give - no strings attached
You - for you, personal
The Desires - deep Godly wants
Of - secret places in
Your - from your heart alone
Heart - from your soul

Now, read the verse as a whole and see if it has changed the way you think about it.

"Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."

I really like this way of looking at the scripture!

This is how we started our day! At about 3:45 the hail hit hard and fast! It was so loud that we thought that we were going to have windows get knocked out.

This is our driveway and the street in front of our house. They were both covered with hail.

Then, this is how the day ended. Isn't it beautiful?

That is the midwest for you!!
